Overview
Muko Theodore Marman is a major character in Dimensional Deep End.
He gets involved in the B plot, joining Tristan and the others after becoming weirdly stressed about Dave's disappearance.
He is good friends with Dave and Bambi, and is an uncle figure to Tristan.
Appearance
Muko is a lanky 2D world-er donning a white lab coat over a pink sweater with a white collared undershirt. Additonally he wears dark red pants with brown, blocky dress shoes. He has short blond hair with a prominent tuft at the top of his head. As his emotions intensify, his hair appears to become messier. He wears round glasses with a red frame.
Personality
Muko is an intelligent robotic engineer who falls into episodes of paranoia and isolation when faced with stressful situations. Despite his serious and apathetic demeanor, he enjoys childlike hobbies and objects such as Furbies or listening to boy band music, which stayed consistent throughout his life. He also has a large interest in the paranormal and paranatural, keeping up with urban legends and natural phenomena. He keeps a lot of secrets and doesn't tend to talk a lot about himself as a person.
When not struggling with stress, Muko is a lot more laid back and emotionally available. When talking about something he likes or something he invented, he can’t help but ramble with excitement. He has spent a good amount of time working on outwardly showing appreciation for his friends, since he is often subtle with his emotions.
After learning about Dave’s disappearance, Muko relapses back into a person he never wanted to become again. He is now hard focused on one goal: to fix everything.
Background
Muko was born around the mid-late 1980s in the American midwest. He grew up as an only child, raised by both of his parents.
Muko was an energetic and passionate little kid who never lost his affinity for robotics, inventing devices since he was young. However, because of his obvious nerdiness, he was the target of a lot of bullying from his peers. He met Dave sometime in middle school after he was protected from some bullies, and the two became best friends. Muko built up a small yet strong friend group that lasted until adulthood.
Ever since he was a child, Muko has had an affinity with the unknown, and wanted to explore topics that fell into 'conspiracy' territory and prove one of these theories as real. Oftentimes, Muko would fall into bouts of hyperfixation related to his passions and theories, which would often leave him without sleep or socialization.
After graduating high school, he moved to Fort Geraldson with Dave and established a lab to conduct various experiments related to his theory, with him as the engineer. However, some time after Dave lost his legs in a lab accident, another incident happened that shattered Muko's mental health and ended up straining his relationship with Dave. His tendency to hyperfixate and isolate himself became much more extreme, which Dave did everything in his power to mitigate. While on much better terms now, Muko still holds a form of a grudge against Dave, even if it is not yet clear why.
Trivia
- Muko visited Dave whenever he was hospitalized due to surgery when they were kids, catching him up on missed homework and chatting with eachother.
- This inspired Dave to pursue becoming a teacher later in adulthood.
- Muko sometimes has the tendency to repeat singular words twice, drawing out one word longer than the other. His friends have no idea where he got this speech quirk.
- Muko has a really nasally laugh, which he is self conscious about.
